Abstract
The Airodontics© protocol represents an integrated diagnostic and therapeutic
system designed to manage complex disorders such as temporomandibular dysfunction (TMD), sleep bruxism disorder (SBD), and cranio-cervico-mandibular dysfunction (CCMD). Utilizing the SDiMatrix Myo-Axiography system in combination with Bausch Occlusense and Ackuretta 3D printing technologies, this approach merges
advanced digital tools and physiological assessment methods into a cohesive workflow.
The protocol incorporates electromyography (EMG), kinesiography, axiography,
digital facebow recording, photogrammetry, CBCT-based airway volumetry,
polysomnography (PSG), GemPro sleep bruxism analysis, and Occlusense-based
occlusal mapping. Complementary functional and therapeutic procedures include
cranial nerve screening, Rocabado distraction technique, Chirodontics (cranial
suture release), myofunctional therapy (MFT), platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy,
digital smile design, and airway expansion appliances.
Central to the protocol is the application of ultra-low frequency transcutaneous
electrical nerve stimulation (ULF-TENS) to achieve accurate neuromuscular
relaxation and repositioning. This facilitates the determination of an optimal bimaxillary
position for harmonious occlusion, improved airway function, and enhanced facial
balance. Through this comprehensive integration of technology and physiology, Airodontics© redefines the clinical scope of dentistry—shifting the practitioner’s focus beyond tooth alignment to encompass functional, neuromuscular, and aesthetic rehabilitation.
