Abstract
Balancing health and sustainability in infection control is critical in modern dental
ecosystems. This presentation emphasizes the importance of decontamination
and reprocessing in dental practices, focusing on emerging technologies that
enhance both safety and environmental responsibility. While fundamental
principles of disinfection or sterilization, remain unchanged, innovations like
vapourised hydrogen peroxide, ultraviolet irradiation, and solar autoclaves are
reshaping practices. Greater attention should be now placed on reducing
environmental impacts, particularly in the debate between reusable and
disposable instruments. Tailored risk assessments are essential for dental clinics
to adopt effective, sustainable green methods that align with the unique needs of
modern dental care.
