The challenge of orthodontic traction of impacted canines

Abstract
Impacted teeth are a clinical issue of great interest to orthodontists, requiring a
consistent orthodontic and surgical treatment plan. Among teeth, the maxillary canines
are the most affected, second only to the third molars. An impacted canine can induce
complex physiological and chemical processes and, consequently, damage adjacent
teeth, causing root resorption. The adjacent incisors are the most affected. Orthodontic
traction treatment is always a major challenge.
