Gaetano Isola is an Associate Professor of Periodontology at the School of Dentistry,
University of Catania, Italy. Qualified in Dentistry at the University of Messina, Italy. PhD
at the University of Turin, Italy. Visiting Research fellow at the Université de Montréal,
Canada. Advanced Course in Periodontology at the University of Ferrara. Three-year
certificate in Oral Surgery at the University of Naples “Federico II”. Visiting Professor at the
Department of Periodontology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, USA and
the University of Granada, Spain. Visiting Researcher at the University of Bern,
Switzerland and the Department of Periodontology of the “Eastman Dental Institute”,
London. Author of over 300 national and international peer-reviewed publications. His
main research interests focus on periodontitis’s clinical, biological and pharmacological
aspects, the relationship between oral health and systemic diseases, and the overall
impact of periodontal treatment on both oral and systemic health.
